About The Artist
Delbar Azari holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tehran and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. This combination of artistic insight and technical expertise enables her to execute works with exceptional precision and conceptual depth. Drawing inspiration from her early fascination with chandelier crystals and their ability to refract and transform light, Azari’s practice masterfully bridges the technical with optical and chromatic investigation. Her pieces are dynamic and responsive, evolving with ambient light and the viewer's perspective.
Rooted in the traditions of California's celebrated Light and Space movement, Azari’s works evoke comparisons to those of Larry Bell and Helen Pashgian. She employs industrial and experimental materials to create luminous compositions that radiate depth and emphasize the dynamic relationship between light and form. Her expert use of various materials allows light to diffuse organically, creating a sense of fluidity that echoes the natural beauty of her surroundings, from the ocean waves to the enveloping fog of Santa Monica.
