abstract art
Abstract artists use line, color, and shape, not to create realistic representations of their observations, but abstractions of these observations. Much like a musical composer uses notes, tempo, and chord structure to evoke a certain feeling or mood in the listener, abstract artists use visual components, qualities, and properties to aesthetically move the mood and emotion of the viewer. Abstract art frees the artist from the more strict constraints of empirical observation into a realm of the mind.
